What is the Deutsch-Test für Zuwanderer?
The DTZ is the language test at the end of the integration course. It is designed as an A2/B1 test and checks listening, reading, writing and speaking. Together with the Leben in Deutschland test, it can be part of the integration course certificate.

State the reason first
The first sentence answers: Why am I writing? Appointment, course, apartment, excuse or information.
Make every bullet point visible
DTZ writing loses strength quickly when a required point is missing. Short clear sentences are safer.

Separate A2 and B1
A2 can simply inform. B1 gets stronger when reasons, suggestions and linking words are added.

Is DTZ the same as a normal B1 exam?
No. DTZ is designed for integration-course learners and everyday situations. Other B1 exams such as Goethe or telc B1 have their own formats, rules and purposes.
Is DTZ B1 enough for citizenship?
For citizenship and residence questions, always check the current authority rules. B1 is often important, but requirements come from BAMF, immigration offices or citizenship offices.
